Sunflowers are one of the easiest flowers to draw, because they are made from a circle and a ring of simple petals. Watch each step being drawn in pencil, then copy it on your own paper. It works for kids from about age 5 and for adult beginners too.
Copy the dark lines in each step. The grey lines are the parts you already drew.
Start in the upper half of your page, not the middle, because the stem and leaves need room below. Draw a big round shape, about the size of a large coin. Press lightly so you can fix it later. A little wobble is fine and makes the flower look friendly.

Draw one small circle in the very middle of the center. Around it, draw a ring of about six small circles, then a bigger ring, then one more ring near the edge. Keep the circles small and leave a tiny gap between them so they do not touch.

Start at the top right of the center. Each petal is wide where it touches the center, bends outward, and ends in a soft point. Draw three petals side by side, then add one short line down the middle of each. These first three show you the size to copy for the rest.

Keep going around the circle, one petal at a time, until you meet the first petal again. Try to keep them about the same size, but small differences look natural. You should end up with twelve big petals.

Look at the small gaps between the big petals. In each gap, draw only the pointed tip of a smaller petal peeking out from behind. Do not draw the whole petal. This one step makes the flower look full and fluffy.

From the bottom of the flower, draw two lines going straight down, close together, for the stem. Add one big leaf on each side, one lower on the left and one higher on the right. Finish with a line through the middle of each leaf.

Use yellow for the big petals and a darker yellow or orange for the petals at the back. Colour the center brown and make the seeds dark brown. Use green for the stem and leaves. Press lightly near the petal tips for a soft, coloured pencil look.

Petals are easier to draw when you rotate the page instead of twisting your hand.
Real sunflowers are a little uneven, so small differences look natural.
If the flower ends up too low on the page, the stem will run off the edge.
