Draw the body
In the middle of your page, draw a big egg shape that is wider at the bottom. An owl's head and body are one shape, so keep the line smooth all the way around. Press lightly so you can fix it later.
▶ Watch this stepThis cartoon owl starts with one big egg shape, then you add tufts, big round eyes, a beak, wings and a branch. Watch each step being drawn in pencil, then copy it on your own paper. It works for kids from about age 4 and for adult beginners too.
Copy the dark lines in each step. The grey lines are the parts you already drew.

The eyes can take up almost half of the head. Big eyes make the owl look cute.
Draw one eye, then copy the same size for the other one.
Keep the feather marks small and in neat rows.
Trace your drawing with a darker pencil or a black pen so it stands out after coloring.
Leave the body white and add small black dots for a snowy owl.
