Draw the shell
A little to the left of the middle of your page, draw a big circle for the shell. Press lightly so you can fix it later.
▶ Watch this stepThis cartoon snail is a round swirly shell on top of a long soft body, with eyes on stalks. Watch each step being drawn in pencil, then copy it on your own paper. It works for kids from about age 4 and for adult beginners too.
Copy the dark lines in each step. The grey lines are the parts you already drew.

Inside the shell, start with a small curl in the middle. Keep going round and round, making the curl bigger each time, until it reaches the edge of the shell.

Under the shell, draw a long, soft body that sticks out on both sides. On the right, let it go up to make the head, with a round top.
▶ Watch this step
On top of the head, draw two thin stalks going up. At the top of each one, draw a round eye with a dark pupil and a white shine.

On the head, draw a happy smile and a pink oval for the cheek.

Under the snail, draw a line for the ground and a few pointy blades of grass. Behind the snail, draw a few small dots for its shiny trail.

Color the shell orange and go over the swirl with dark orange. Color the body light green, the grass green and the cheek pink. Leave the eyes white with dark pupils.
▶ Watch this stepKeep your first lines soft, then press harder once you like the shape.
Draw the swirl slowly. If it is not perfect, that is fine. Real snail shells are not perfect either.
Keep the body long and low to the ground, with only the head going up.
Draw the eye stalks with single thin lines and put big round eyes on top.
Trace your drawing with a darker pencil or a black pen so it stands out after coloring.
Add dots, stripes or flowers to the shell to make your snail extra fancy.
